Logging into a New Computer and Transferring Files

If you’ve just received a new computer, follow the steps below to get logged in and move your files over safely and securely.


Step 1: Log Into Your New Computer

Before attempting to log in, connect to your site Wi-Fi network:

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi

    • Locate the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom right corner of the login screen.

    • Select your site Wi-Fi from the list and connect.

  2. Log In with Your Sunstone Way Credentials

    • Click on the user icon in the bottom left of the screen.

    • Select Other User.

    • Enter your Sunstone Way email address as the username.

    • Use your Sunstone Way account password (Note: this is not the same as the PIN you may use to log into your old laptop).

If you don't remember your password, contact IT to have it reset.


Step 2: Transfer Files Using OneDrive

On the Old Computer

  1. Log into your old computer.

  2. Open File Explorer (folder icon on the taskbar or by pressing Windows + E).

  3. In the left-hand sidebar, locate and click on OneDrive – Sunstone Way.

  4. Move or copy any files and folders you want to transfer into this OneDrive folder.
    This ensures they sync to the cloud and will be accessible on your new device.

Note: Only files stored locally on your old computer need to be transferred. Files already saved on SharePoint, email, or Teams are cloud-based and do not require manual migration.

On the New Computer

  1. Log in with your credentials and ensure you are connected to the internet.

  2. OneDrive may prompt you to sign in automatically. If not:

    • Click the cloud icon in the system tray (bottom right of the screen).

    • Sign in with your Sunstone Way email address and password.

  3. Once signed in, your OneDrive will sync and appear in File Explorer as OneDrive – Sunstone Way.

  4. Open File Explorer (Windows + E), and click OneDrive – Sunstone Way in the sidebar to view and access your transferred files.
