If you have an HP printer, the easiest way to set it up is with the HP Smart app. This free app helps you connect your printer, install drivers, and start printing or scanning quickly. If your printer is NOT an HP Printer, please see our other printer installation guides:

✅ What You’ll Need

  • A Windows 11 computer with internet access

  • Your HP printer, turned on and nearby

  • A Wi-Fi network (for wireless printers)

  • The HP Smart app (we’ll help you install it below)

Step 1: Install the HP Smart App

  1. Open the Microsoft Store:

    • Click the Start menu, then type Microsoft Store and open it.

  2. In the search bar, type HP Smart.

  3. Click on HP Smart, then click Install.

  4. Once installed, open the app.

Step 2: Set Up Your HP Printer

When you open the HP Smart app for the first time:

  1. Click Set Up a New Printer.

  2. The app will search for nearby HP printers. Make sure your printer is turned on.

  3. If you see your printer listed, click it.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to:

    • Connect your printer to Wi-Fi (if wireless)

    • Install any necessary drivers

    • Finish setup

? If your printer isn’t found, make sure it’s on the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or try restarting the printer.

Step 3: Print or Scan

Once setup is complete, the HP Smart app will show shortcuts like:

  • Print Documents

  • Scan Photos

  • Printer Settings

You can use these tools to print or scan easily right from your computer.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Printer not detected? Restart your printer and PC, and ensure Wi-Fi is working.

  • Wired printer? Connect the USB cable first, then try adding it through HP Smart.

  • Still stuck? Click the Help & Support tab inside the HP Smart app.

Bonus Tip: Keep Things Updated

The HP Smart app will notify you about firmware updates and ink levels. It’s a great way to keep your printer running smoothly.

You’re All Set!

Now your HP printer is ready to go with the HP Smart app. You can print, scan, and manage your printer all in one place.
